Attendance Celebrations:
Many students are doing their best to be on time and ready to learn every day…… What an achievement! We want to celebrate your commitment to being at school and doing your best to be on time and prepared.
At Edna Staebler Public School we continue to highlight the importance of regular attendance — So many of our students make it a priority.
When asked why, this is what they say:
- “At the beginning of the day I want to come in with my friends because there is sometimes som fun stuff happening at the beginning of the day. Sometimes I get to do writing tasks and I don’t want to miss it.”
- “I like to see my friends before the day starts, and talk about what’s going on”
- “I get to hear what is happening at school that day on announcements, and I like the music”
- “We do fun morning stuff as a class at the start of the day!”
- “I like walking to school with my friends!”
If your student is having a hard time being on time, be in touch with the teacher or main office. We are here to help.

February is Black Brilliance Month — Celebrating Black Brilliance
February is Black Brilliance Month .. For more than 200 years, Black people have been present in Waterloo Region. This year’s theme “We Boldly Belong” is guided by the mission to foster a school where each child is represented, valued and included.
We are committed to tackling systemic anti-Black racism in education. Through our celebration of Black Brilliance Month, we aim to create an environment where African, Caribbean and Black-identifying (ACBi) staff and students see their brilliance highlighted, represented and celebrated.
Black Brilliance DIASPORA: Feb. 22
For the 2023/2024 school year, the Black Brilliance theme is DIASPORA. The Waterloo Region District School African, Caribbean and Black identifying population represents a wide cross-section of cultures, ethnicities and identities. From Jamaica to Ghana, the USA to Mauritania, Canada to Sudan, Africanness is here.
On February 22, in partnership with the Wilfrid Laurier University, the WRDSB hosts the inaugural Black Brilliance Conference for Elementary Students (GRADES 6-8 ONLY)
